So I got my first Del Sol (Squish, 95 S Model) back in June of 2022 and did some basic maintenance and a bit of a suspension upgrade when I got her to get her daily ready. She held up beautifully for as long as I had her. Made it to the Back of the Dragon this past year for as rusty as she is.

I had gotten my second Del Sol (Lucky, 93 S Model) around May of 2023. She was not running but I had kind of an idea of what I wanted to do with it.

Unfortunately, Squish was in an accident on 11/17/23 and she wasn’t horribly hurt, but some things were lost and in a rush to have a car again, I brought down Lucky and at the time of writing this, I have both engines dropped out and the running one put into Lucky. For now, the fun build will have to wait.

Squish at this point in time will be used for me to practice my welding on and maybe I can fix her up someday.

Tell us a little bit about you becoming a Honda-Tech:

So I’ve never really known what I’ve wanted to do as far as a career and fell into this job due to my love for cars. Out of everything I have owned and worked on, I’ve loved hondas for how easy and fun they are.

I’m currently only a freshman in the Honda PACT program at Sinclair Community College and have finished my electrical class along with my steering and suspension class. For a 30yr old going back to school, it’s been a weird feeling doing all of this. My next Classes will be engines and transmissions so I’m a tad nervous. But I encourage anyone who wants to go back to school to just do it. I don’t regret a second of all of this.

What makes Del Sols unique from other hondas?

What makes a Del Sol unique to me is that they had such cool features that have not been seen on any other car. Between every model, there’s always something unique about each one. The transtops are one of the coolest things I have ever seen and even the S models are redeeming to me for their wonderful gas mileage. Considering I daily mine about 2k miles a month, I could not be happier even for a base model.

But the thing I never expected from this lil car was the amazing and welcoming community I have come to be a part of. Nothing compares to it. After my accident, I had so many wonderful people help me with parts and even my coworkers have helped me turn wrenches getting her running again.

Del Sol build itself:

Lucky right now is just a stock D15. Parts put into it are:

Tein S Tech coils

Polyurethane bushings

4th gen prelude seats

Custom interior

K tuned shifter

Oldsols bezel

Stickerbombed targa top

Currently not too many features of her besides just a nice comfy ride

Future plans:

I’ve had so many ideas of what I want to do, at this point I kind of just go with what I want as I see it really. I’d love to try for a built B Series eventually with an AWD conversion, but my mind likes to think of other things too.

I know I’d love to buy a carbon fiber passenger fender I lost in the accident along with fix the one rust spot and a paint job just to make her look better. Haven’t decided between Camellia Red or Blackberry Pearl.
